More students benefit from NMST funding.

14 09 2015

A group of 8 young people from Whitehaven visited Glenridding Sailing Centre earlier this month to undertake their RYA Level 1 ‘Start Sailing’ award for beginners. For many this was their first experience in a boat and the blustery winds of Ullswater provided a great challenge and much entertainment. The students reported huge benefits from their 2 days, including making new friends, increased self confidence, overcoming a lifetime fear of the water and not least learning to sail. Overall a good time was had by all.

A huge thank-you to all those staff at Steria in Manchester for their fundraising efforts for the Neil Murphy Sailing Trust.

A grand total of £689.18 was raised from a variety of activities, including a raffle and cake sale.

Now that’s a lot of cake!

Neil Murphy charity fundraising

Neil Murphy Sailing Trust’s 1st Students

10 02 2014

The first recipients of funding from the Neil Murphy Sailing Trust experienced lakeland weather for their first taste of sailing.

9 boys and girls from Preston attended a hands-on, two-day session at Glenridding Sailing Centre surrounded by the beautiful scenery of Ullswater.

Quote of the day was on arrival – “Oh my god! Imagine living here.” Despite the cold, all had a great time. Let’s hope they are the first of many!

If you know of any youth groups that would be interested in the work of NMST please let us know.

Trust triathletes triumph…..or did they????

24 09 2012

Great news from the London triathlon yesterday, Maddie and Martin both finished in stunning times! Ahem….

The results show Maddie as having taken 1 hour 23 mins while Martin is showing as taking a mere 23 minutes! Clearly there is some mistake or they wouldn’t have broken a sweat! Surely?

We’re saying nothing…

Looking like they’ve just been for a gentle stroll !

We’re most impressed, and, of course, bowled over by their willingness to raise funds for us.

The last word on pride, however, rests with Charlotte and Thomas…….

Aren’t Dads just the best?
